William Grubman is the author of The Storm Over Paris, the first novel in a historical fiction trilogy, and its sequel, Paris After the Storm. Set against the art world of World War II and its aftermath, the series follows the Rothstein family and explores the fate of priceless works caught in the Nazi plunder of Europe. The Storm Over Paris unfolds amid the dangerous struggle to protect stolen art in occupied Paris, while Paris After the Storm centers on the postwar effort to return those works to their rightful owners.
A lifelong student of history and the arts, William has always been drawn to the stories behind the people, places, and works of art that have shaped our past. That curiosity eventually found its way into his writing, where his love of history and storytelling come together.
Before turning to writing, William built a career in the paper industry as well as in commercial real estate while cultivating interests that extended far beyond his professional life. Over the years, he became a jet pilot, studied art history, and co-founded the Dream Street Foundation, a nonprofit organization created to provide summer camping programs for children with life-threatening and chronic illnesses.
Creative pursuits have remained a constant throughout his life. In addition to writing and collecting art, Grubman has a deep love of music, and performs in a cabaret act with his sister. Together, they have appeared on stages from Los Angeles to Paris including Carnegie Hall. That journey was chronicled in the documentary Once Upon A Dream.
Grubman lives in Los Angeles, where he continues to write and pursue the passions that have shaped both his life and his work.
